How to Use BriteDoor

Your free account gives you access to live Houston MLS listings, saved searches, alerts, favorites, private notes, and direct access to your agent — all in one place.

Create Your Free Account

  1. 1Go to britedoor.com and click Sign Up in the top right corner.
  2. 2Enter your name, email address, and create a password.
  3. 3If your agent shared a personal link with you, use that link to sign up — this automatically connects your account to them.
  4. 4Once signed in, you'll land on your personal Dashboard.

Pro tip: Use the link your agent sent you to sign up. It connects your account to them automatically so they can send you personalized searches and alerts.

Search for Homes

  1. 1Click Search in the navigation bar or go to britedoor.com/search.
  2. 2Type a city, neighborhood, zip code, or address in the search bar.
  3. 3Use the filters to narrow by price, beds, baths, property type, and more.
  4. 4Toggle between List view and Map view using the buttons at the top right.
  5. 5Click any listing card to open the full property details.

Pro tip: Use the map view to explore listings by neighborhood and see exactly where homes are located relative to schools, parks, and your workplace.

Save Your Favorites

  1. 1On any listing card or property page, click the heart icon to save it to your Favorites.
  2. 2Go to Favorites in the navigation to see all your saved homes.
  3. 3Click + New Folder to organize favorites into named collections (e.g., "Top Picks", "Weekend Showings").
  4. 4Drag homes into folders or use the folder icon on any card to assign it.
  5. 5To share a folder with a partner or your agent, click the share icon on the folder tab and copy the link.

Pro tip: Create a folder called "Showings" and add homes you want to tour. Share the link with your agent so they can schedule visits for you.

Set Up Search Alerts

  1. 1After running a search, click the Save Search button at the top of the results.
  2. 2Give your search a name (e.g., "3 Bed Katy Under $400K").
  3. 3Choose your alert frequency: Instant, Daily, Weekly, or Biweekly.
  4. 4Click Save — you'll receive an email whenever new listings match your criteria.
  5. 5Manage all your saved searches under Saved Searches in the navigation.

Pro tip: Set alerts to Instant for hot markets so you're notified the moment a matching home hits the MLS — before most buyers even know it exists.

Add Notes to Properties

  1. 1Open any property detail page.
  2. 2Scroll below the photo gallery and click the Notes button.
  3. 3Type your private observations — pros, cons, questions, things to check during a showing.
  4. 4Notes are saved automatically and are only visible to you.
  5. 5Access all your notes from the property page anytime.

Pro tip: After a showing, jot down your impressions while they're fresh. Notes like "loved the backyard but small kitchen" help when comparing multiple homes later.

View Your Dashboard

  1. 1Click Dashboard in the navigation menu.
  2. 2See a summary of your saved homes, recent activity, and saved searches.
  3. 3View your agent's contact card — click to call, email, or schedule directly.
  4. 4Check Recently Viewed to revisit listings you've looked at.
  5. 5If you own a home, add it under My Properties to track its estimated value.

Contact Your Agent

  1. 1Your agent's contact card appears throughout the site — on your dashboard and property pages.
  2. 2Click Contact Agent on any property to send a message about that specific listing.
  3. 3Use the Tour Request button to schedule a showing directly from the property page.
  4. 4Your agent can see your saved searches and favorites to help recommend homes.

Pro tip: When you request a tour or contact your agent from a specific listing, the property details are automatically included so they know exactly which home you're interested in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BriteDoor free to use?

Yes. Creating an account and using all customer features — search, favorites, folders, alerts, notes — is completely free.

Are the listings up to date?

Yes. BriteDoor pulls listings directly from the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) MLS, updated in real time. What you see is what's currently active on the market.

Can I share my saved homes with my partner?

Yes. Organize your favorites into a folder and click the share icon to generate a shareable link. Anyone with the link can view the properties — no account required.

Will my agent see my favorites and notes?

Your notes are private and only visible to you. Your agent can see your saved searches so they can send you better matches, but cannot see your private notes.

How do I change my alert frequency?

Go to Saved Searches in the navigation, find the search you want to update, and click Edit. You can change the frequency or turn alerts off entirely.

What if I find a home I want to tour?

Click Request a Tour on any property page. Fill in your preferred dates and a message — your agent will receive the request and follow up to confirm.
